第一步
對于SAT寫作文章的閱讀理解，是一個很重要的部分。不過由于新SAT文章不短，因此第一步中，讀懂文章，分段落，找修辭手法，要更加有效率。推薦這樣一種閱讀方式：Title-Assignment-Article
第一步是讀題目，通過題目可以對文章內容作一個基本定位。
第二步是讀文章后面的方框，也叫assignment,里面會告訴我們本文的中心論點。中心論點確定了，對內容理解上一般就不會跑偏，因為文中所有文字毫無疑問是為論點服務的。
第三步才是讀正文，分析作者是如何展開及證明本人論點的。
正確的步驟有了，大方向定了，接下來具體的文本解讀亦有技巧可尋。
第二步
好的開頭是成功的一半，這用在SAT寫作中依然適用。因此在SAT寫作學習中，同學們對于開頭一定要多加重視。其實大家在逐漸接觸到新SAT寫作考試后，慢慢會發現其實新SAT寫作部分也是有套路的，也是可以掌握SAT寫作經驗的，下面就對開頭如何寫，推薦一種方法：
寫開頭 (作者寫作意圖+文章主旨+寫作手法羅列)
1)Introduce the writer's intention of this argument;
介紹作者的寫作意圖;
2)Brief the main idea of the passage(Better to mention author and title of the passage in the essay);
簡述文章主旨，最好在寫作中能提及作者和文章標題;
3)List the most relevant evidence/reasoning/stylistic or persuasive elements the writer uses to support his or her argument.
羅列作者在論證主題時，最相關的論據/理由/最能體現體裁或者最具有說服力的元素。
第三步
按文章邏輯順序分析寫作手法
Each paragraph contains a topic sentence, which introduces the whole paragraph in brief, and an elaboration on a specific device in detail.
每段都有一句主旨中心句，以及一段詳細的論證。
1)Cite the device or tool you are going to elaborate in the paragraph;
引用文章中的論證內容用于自己的寫作;
2)Explain what it is in the essay and what meaning or idea it carries;
在寫作中解釋它是什么，它的作用以及文中它有何種意義;
3)Analyze the effect on essay in terms of appealing to reason;
從邏輯層面，分析該手法對文章的影響;
4)Analyze the effect on readers in terms of appealing to emotion;
從情感層面，分析該手法對讀者的影響。
第四步
重述文章主旨+主題
Unlike many other types of writing, the resigned SAT essay does not demand a deeper insight to the future or whatsoever. The students need only to repeat in a paraphrasing manner the following:
SAT寫作不需要體現深刻內涵的想法，我們只需要能用自己的話語轉述如下內容：
1)The main idea of the passage;
閱讀文章的中心思想;
2)The tools the writer uses to make his or her argument persuasive;
作者運用的論證手法;
3)If time allows, the intention of the writer and the effects of the tools employed.
如果時間有余，還可以再羅列一下作者采用該論證手法的目的及其使用效果。
