　　A: Im thrilled that your company wants to do business with us. Id like to submit an offer right now.

　　B: You certainly do work fast. Can I tell my company this is a firm offer?

　　A: Yes. However, it is subject to your reply being given within one week. Im sorry, but I have to give you a short time limit.

　　B: One week is not a long time, if you think of all the hardware and software details that we will have to talk about.

　　A: I understand that, and Im sorry. But we must be sure we can get those supplies soon.

　　B: Well, Ill do my best to give you a call within two days at the latest.

　　A: I appreciate that. I know I dont really need to say this, but well have to withdraw our offer if we dont hear from you by Friday.

　　短語解說

　　submit an offer 提出報價

　　"submit"，‘提出’;提出報價可由買賣任何一方向對方提出表示愿意依自己所開的條件，與對方共定法律上有效的買賣契約，方式則以電報、傳真或函寄為主。

　　firm offer 確定報價，穩固報價

　　"firm"，‘穩定的、確定的’。"firm offer"即平常所謂的"offer"，是目前國際上通用的報價方式。‘穩固報價’在報價單上載明了接受期限，并規定在期限內，所報出的各項條件都不得改變。因此被報價人只要在期限內接受，契約即告成立。而一旦對方有效地接受之后，報價之不得拒絕訂立合約。

　　subject to your reply being given... 在(某時)

　　"subject"，在此為形容詞;"subject to"，‘依照，視...而定’。"reply"，‘回答’。此句后面加上時間，用于規定接受報價的期限，例如："subject to your reply being given within one week"(一星期內答復即視為確定報價)。

　　withdraw ones offer 撤回報價

　　"withdraw"‘撤回’。報價在被接受前，報價人得隨時撤回。撤回的通知，須在對方發出接受通知之前抵達到對方。如在對方‘接受報價通知’發出之后，則撤回無效。撤銷(cancellation)則不同，它是指報價生效后撤銷報價，使之無效的行為。

　　"need to"，‘必需’。"I know...but"這句型表示‘自己不得不’，事實上強調的是"but"之后所連接的子句，用意在提醒對方的注意。因為若直接提出可能發生的不利的情況，威脅意味明顯;以此句開頭，可以緩和語氣
