　　(Ma Zhiwei, the general manager of China National Imp, & Exp. Crop and his wife, Wang Lan are invited to have a business trip to Canada. Linda, the general assistant of the United Hardware Co. Canada, is in charge of the reception. Mr. and Mrs. Ma are in their room at a hotel, still in pajamas. )

　　Ma: It’s our second day in Canada, but we still haven’t got over jet-lag completely. Our Canadian hosts have been thoughtful. They have given us time to adjust our new location and time zone.

　　Wang: Yes, I hope we’ll have a wonderful journey here in Canada.

　　Ma: Good morning. This is Ma Zhiwei.

　　Wang: OK, I’ll take the black one. What will you wear tonight?

　　Ma: Men were usually required to wear men’s formal attires or swallow tails for every formal occasions. However, since these dressings are quite out of date now, it is very common for men to wear suit in three instead.

　　(馬：在正式場合，男士一般要求穿男禮服和燕尾服。但是這已比較少見，通常穿三件套西服禮服就行了。)

　　Wang: I see. (Taking out a dark suit in three with white shirt and gray tie). Is it what you what?

　　Ma: Yes. And my shoes and socks, please. Remember, don’t match black shoes with white socks as you did last time.

　　Wang: Oh, please don’t tease me any more. I know how to do this time. Besides, I will first have our dress ironed and our shoes polished. Then we’ll go downstairs to have our hair beautified at the beauty salon.

　　注釋

　　1、睡衣(night clothes, pajamas),顧名思義是上床睡覺時穿的服裝,是不允許穿出室外的，更不能穿去會客接友。這時如有客人來訪，應讓客人先在客廳等候，等自己在內間換完衣服后再出來會客不遲。如有比較熟的朋友到訪，可在外面再穿上一件睡袍(grow, robes), 但這只限于好朋友之間非正式的情況，否則會被視為缺少教養和失禮。

　　2、長途跋涉，必然十分勞累，主人應體貼周到，給予客人一定的休息和恢復疲勞的時間，而不應在客人到達后即刻就安排商務活動。

　　3、客人在前一天晚上才到，第二天早晨也許會誰得遲一些，因此主人應避免過早地打擾客人。如有必要打電話，也應選擇相對較遲的時間，而且禮貌得體地說一聲。

　　4、參加晚宴，通常主人會在請柬上通知對方晚宴是否是正式的，但是在口頭通知時，如主人未說明，客人最好問清楚，以便挑選合適的服裝出席，以免失禮和尷尬。

　　5、在正式場合，女士的服裝一般為一件套長裙的晚禮服(evening dresses), 或晚宴禮服(banquet dresses), 配以鉆石或珍珠項鏈(diamond or pearl necklace)和耳環(ear-rings),配高跟皮鞋(high-heeled leather shoes),手挎裝飾用小手袋。在這樣的場合，女士切忌穿褲子(trousers)或短至膝蓋以上的短裙(short skirts)，否則是失禮和缺乏教養的行為。

　　6、在中國出席正式晚宴或中國人在國外參加正式宴會時，對女士來說一條中式的旗袍(woman’s cheongsam)就可以了。旗袍是我國的民族服裝，在充分體現形體美的同時，也不乏端莊典雅，與坎肩(padded or lines sleeveless jacktets)和披巾(capes,shawls)、高跟鞋相配更顯端莊華貴。但旗袍的質地一定要選用絲綢(silk)、絲絨(velvet)等高檔而具有民族特色的質料。

　　7、如果是正式的晚宴，男士可穿男禮服(men’s formal attires)、燕尾服(swallowtails, tails)，但這在現在已比較少見。穿上衣、背心、長褲組成的三件套西服禮服(suit in three)，配上黑色皮鞋和白色胸飾手帕就可以了，通常三件套西裝被認為是最正宗、最經典的商務套裝。西服的面料一定要高檔，一般首選毛料;西服的顏色在莊重、正式的場合，首選藏青色，其次灰色、棕色、黑色;里面的襯衣一般為白色，領子和袖口要比西服外套高出和長出1-1.5厘米。西服的口袋很多，但各有其用，切記不要把西裝的口袋塞得鼓鼓囊囊的。

　　8、與西服配套的鞋子，應當是真皮制品而非仿皮，一般來說，牛皮鞋與西裝最般配，商務人員在選擇皮鞋時，應以深色系帶牛皮鞋為最佳選擇。襪子一般為純棉、純毛為好，通常深色鞋子配深色襪子，不要使鞋子和襪子的顏色對比太明顯。

　　9、出席正式的商業晚宴或雞尾酒會，一定要事先做好著裝和外觀方面的準備工作，特別是出差在外的人員，由于形裝放在箱子里，所以應及時讓服務員熨燙整齊，皮鞋要擦亮，必要時也應整理一下發型，女士還應適當化妝。總之要使自己著裝合適，舉止得體，給人以莊重典雅的感覺。
