　　Saying Good-bye to Cambridge Again

　　Very quietly I take my leave

　　As quietly as I came here;

　　Quietly I wave good-bye

　　To the rosy clouds in the western sky.

　　The golden willows by the riverside

　　Are young brides in the setting sun;

　　Their reflections on the shimmering waves

　　Always linger in the depth of my heart.

　　The floating heart growing the sludge

　　Sways leisurely under the water;

　　In the gentle waves of Cambridge

　　I would be a water plant!

　　That pool under the shade of elm trees

　　Holds not water but the rainbow from the sky;

　　Shattered to pieces among the duck weeds

　　Is the sediment of a rainbow-like dream?

　　Just to pole a boat upstream

　　To where the green grass is more verdant

　　Or to have the boat fully loaded with starlight

　　And sing aloud in the splendor of starlight.

　　此詩寫于1928年11月6日，初載1928年12月10日《新月》月刊第1卷第10號，署名徐志摩。康橋，即英國著名的劍橋大學所在地。1920年10月—1922年8月，詩人曾游學于此。康橋時期是徐志摩一生的轉折點。詩人在《猛虎集·序文》中曾經自陳道：在24歲以前，他對于詩的興味遠不如對于相對論或民約論的興味。正是康河的水，開啟了詩人的心靈，喚醒了久蟄在他心中的詩人的天命。因此他后來曾滿懷深情地說：“我的眼是康橋教我睜的，我的求知欲是康橋給我撥動的，我的自我意識是康橋給我胚胎的。”(《吸煙與文化》)

　　1928年詩人故地重游。11月6日在歸途的中國南海上，他吟成了這首傳世之作。這首詩最初刊登在1928年12月10日《新月》月刊第1卷10號上，后收入《猛虎集》。可以說“康橋情節”貫穿在徐志摩一生的詩文中，而《再別康橋》無疑是其中最有名的一篇。

　　此詩作于徐志摩第三次歐游的歸國途中。時間是1928年11月6日，地點是中國上海。7月底的一個夏天，他在英國哲學家羅素家中逗留一夜之后，事先誰也沒有通知，一個人悄悄來到康橋找他的英國朋友。遺憾的是他的英國朋友一個也不在，只有他熟悉的康橋在默默等待他，一幕幕過去的生活圖景，又重新在他的眼前展現……由于他當時時間比較緊急，又趕著要去會見另一個英國朋友，故未把這次感情活動記錄下來。直到他乘船離開馬賽的歸國途中，面對洶涌的大海和遼闊的天空，才展紙執筆，記下了這次重返康橋的切身感受。

　　不過當時的徐志摩留下的是英文版的《再別康橋》，當時是一位不知名的中國人翻譯過來的。
