長難句的分析、理解、翻譯歷來是考研英語中的“老大難”，對此沒有完美的解決辦法，只能是找主干、剖析句子成分，逐句翻譯，然后再調整順序，整理成通順的語言。分享過那么多攻略，今天我們不談技巧，只是單純地欣賞三個句子，希望2016考研小伙伴們能在賞析之中領略長難句的翻譯奧妙所在。
例句一
解析：本句主干是Half described conflict，half(half(conflict;“such as”后的所有內容，都是conflict的同位語;of an impoverished Pacific island作為后置定語修飾residents;over whether to allow foreign oil companies to operate there是后置定語修飾debate;following the discovery of petroleum是時間狀語。
譯文：這些文章中，大概有一半描寫的是集團間的沖突，例如在一個剛剛發現石油的貧窮的太平洋小島上，居民們針對是否允許國外石油公司進駐開采這一議題而展開辯論。
例句二
例句：Social-media firms are investigating whether they can tap the micro-transactions markets—say, by offering virtual currencies or goods that users can use as barter—though forced partnerships with local telecoms firms threaten the profitability of such schemes.
解析：主干是social-media firms are investigating whether……by offering virtual currencies or goods that users can use as barter為插入語;that users can use as barter為定語從句修飾goods;though forced partnerships with local telecoms firms threaten the profitability of such schemes為狀語從句。
例句三
例句：Unhappy parents rarely are provoked to wonder if they should not have had kids, but unhappy childless folks are bothered with the message that children are the single most important thing in the world: obviously their misery must be a direct result of the gaping baby-size holes in their lives.
解析：這是兩個并列主句，通過“but”連接。主句一比較簡單，是個被動句;主句二是同位語從句，主干是unhappy childless folks are bothered with the message，children are the single most important thing in the world作為從句修飾the message，冒號后引導的部分obviously their misery must be a direct result of the gaping baby-size holes in their lives是第二個從句。
譯文：沒有人會讓不開心的父母去反思自己是否不該養孩子，但是那些不幸福的、沒有孩子的人卻為類似這樣的信息所困擾：孩子是世界上唯一最珍貴的東西，顯然，他們的不幸必須通過生兒育女才能得以消除。
