第一部分對話：談論樂隊
我們的記者Geoff Howard訪問兩位住在大橋飯店附近的居民。飯店坐落在住宅區。飯店里有個樂隊，到了晚上就演奏。有的居民喜歡這種音樂;有的居民感到討厭。這段對話在廣播里分三部分播放。

GEOFF: Why is that?
JEAN: The hotel's in a residential area.
GEOFF: Paul, how do you feel about this?
PAUL: If you want my opinion, I think Jean Thomas is reacting too strongly.
Many people in the area need somewhere to go. And they like the music at the Bridge Hotel.
GEOFF: But rock'n roll's noisy, isn't it?
JEAN: Right!
PAUL: That’s true, but the band stops at ten o'clock.
JEAN: But it's very noisy till then.
GEOFF: Well, thank you, Jean and Paul, for giving us your opinions.
JEAN & PAUL: Thanks.

ASKING FOR OPINIONS 征求意見
上面的詞匯表里列舉了征求意見、發表意見、表示同意或不同意的多種說法。在廣播里，Barbara和John談論了音樂，John征求Barbara的意見，Barbara提出了自己的看法，他們用了下面一些說法：
JOH N: What do you think of Click Go The Shears?
BARBARA: It's good.
JOHN：What do you think of Waltzing Matilda?
BARBARA: I think it's good too.
JOHN: Which is better? What's your opinion?
BARBARA：It's better known.
(這首歌在澳大利亞更為出名)
JOHN：What do you think of this version?
BARBARA: I think it's very nice.
提問人(John)對于對方(Barbara)的回答，可以作出下列表示：
Yes,I agree 表示同意
I think so too 表示同意
或：I don't agree 表示不同意
I disagree 表示不同意
I don't think so 表示不同意
注意：
英語說I don't think so，否定詞not在動詞think之前;中文說：“我認為不是這樣的”，否定詞和否定部分連在一起。
