英國人文知識講解
The English Channel: The Channel is a narrow seapassage which separates England and France andconnects the Atlantic Ocean and North Sea.
英吉利海峽：英吉利海峽是一道狹長的海峽，分割英法兩國，連接大西洋和北海。
The Dee estuary:A small sea ( in Irish Sea) where the Dee Riverenters.
迪河河口：是迪河流入的一個小海。
"The Act of Union of 1801": In 1801 the English Parliament passed an act by which Scotland,Wales and the Kingdom of England were constitutionally joined as the Kingdom of Great Britain.
1801合并法：1801年英國議會通過法令，規定英格蘭、蘇格蘭和威爾士根據憲法合并成為大不列顛王國。
Gaelic:It is one of the Celtic Language, and is spoken in parts of the Highlands.
蓋爾語：是蓋爾特語言的一種，在高地地區仍有人說這種語言。

① 國旗：Union Jack，國歌：Godsave the queen，首都：倫敦
② 愛丁堡：蘇格蘭首府，Cardiff：威爾士首府，Belfast：北愛爾蘭首府，英聯邦成立于1931年，共53個成員國。
③ 英格蘭脊梁：the Pennine Chain，最高峰：Ben Nevis，最重要的河：Thames river，第一大河：Severn river
④ 英國政治：議會君主制，君主僅是國家首腦，真正的權利在首相（Prime Minister）及其內閣（cabinet）手中。議會(Parliament)是立法機構，包括女王、上院(house of lords)、下院(house of commons)（權利真正來源）。司法(judiciary)
⑤ 黨派：保守黨（來源托利黨）和工黨（來源輝格黨）
2.美國：
① 國旗：stars and stripes，國歌：the star-spangled banner星條旗永不落，國慶：7月4日，首都：華盛頓
② 北美脊梁：Rocky Mountains，五大湖（在美國和加拿大中間）：Lake Michigan/Superior/Erie/Huron/Ontario,其中Lake Michigan是唯一一個全在美國的湖，Lake Ontario和Lake Erie之間有Niagara Falls，father of waters: the Mississippi River
③ 紐約被稱為“the Big Apple”，洛杉磯：有好萊塢，芝加哥：又名“the windy city”，舊金山：UN誕生地（1945年），波士頓：很多著名大學所在地

4.澳大利亞：
① 國慶：1月26日(1788年成立)，首都：堪培拉，悉尼是最大城市，墨爾本第二大（Victoria）

④ 黨派：工黨、自由黨、國民黨（the National Party）
5.新西蘭：
① 國慶：2月6日，官方語言：英語和毛利語，首都：惠靈頓，最大城市：奧克蘭
② 新西蘭政治：大部分同加拿大，但議會為一院制（unicameral），即只有眾議院
③ 黨派：國民黨（保守）和工黨（右翼）
6.愛爾蘭：
① 又稱：綠寶石島（the Emerald Isle)，首都：都柏林，國慶：3月17日，官方語言：英語和愛爾蘭語，天主教國家,，最長的河流：香農河
② 愛爾蘭政治：國家首腦（head of state）：總統，政府首腦（head of government）：議會分為上議院和下議院（權利較大）
