accident 和 incident 有什么區別，continuous/continual怎么區分，老師講了很多遍，可是一提起筆就填錯，考場上明明看清楚了，卷子判下來又錯了，心上永遠的痛啊，只能祈求考試老師不要出這個詞就萬幸了。
accident/incident
accident：突發性的，一般為不幸事件，即“事故”。
traffic accident 交通事故
incident：小的變數、插曲，小事件，沒accident那么嚴重。
an international incident 一次國際事件
continuous/continual
continuous：持續不斷的，且可以做表語和定語
continuous pain 持續的疼痛(疼痛一直有)
continual：中間有間隔的重復，只能做定語
continual improvements in technology 技術上的不斷進步(進步是間隔性的)
considerate/considerable
considerate：體貼的，考慮周到的
Be a good neighbor， be considerate of those living around you。
做一個好鄰居，體諒周圍的人。
considerable：相當大的，值得尊敬的，重要的
We took a considerable length of time to decide。
我們花了好長時間才決定。
electric/electrical
electric：電的，用電的，帶電的，指任何電動的或發電的裝置，被修飾的物體本身可帶電。
electric light 電燈
Please connect the two electric wires。
請將這兩根電線接起來。
electrical：電的，與電有關的，電氣科學的，指與電有關的事物，被修飾的詞本身并不能帶電。
electrical engineer 電氣工程師
All the electrical work was done by my younger brother。
所有的電工活都由弟弟來干。
He buried himself in an electrical book。
他埋頭讀一本電學方面的書。
ensure/insure
表示“保證”的意思，兩者通用，英國人愛用ensure，美國人愛用insure。
Our precautions ensured/insured our safety。
預防措施保證了我們的安全。
表示“保險”的意思，用insure。
After signing a contract with a professional baseball team， Jack decided to insure his pitching arm for $1 million。
和職業棒球隊簽約后，杰克決定為他投球的手臂投保100萬美元。
historic/historical
historic：歷史上著名的，具有歷史意義的。強調的是事件本身具有的重大意義。
historic sites 歷史遺跡
historical：歷史上的，有關歷史的。強調某個事件曾經的的確確發生過。
historical figures 歷史人物
lie/lay
lie：說謊;躺，位于。
——作“說謊”的意思
過去式，過去分詞，現在分詞分別是：lied， lied， lying
——作“躺，位于”的意思
過去式，過去分詞，現在分詞分別是：lay， lain， lying
He lay under a tree to sleep。
他躺在樹下休息。
lay：放，擱;下蛋。過去式，過去分詞，現在分詞分別是：laid， laid， laying
The dog laid its ears back。
小狗把耳朵耷拉下來。
relation/relationship
relation有以下幾個意思
——指最寬泛意義上的“關系”時，relation和relationship同義。
the relation/relationship between smoking and heart disease
吸煙和心臟病之間的關系
——親戚。同義詞：relative。
She was a distant relation of my wife。
她是我老婆的遠房親戚。
subject/object
object：(n。)目標，物體，客體，賓語;(某情感或反應的)對象;(v。)反對。它的形容詞形式為objective，意為“客觀的，目標的”。objective還可以作名詞，意為“目標，目的”。
become an object of derision 成為嘲笑對象
subject：(n。)主體，科目，主語;(批評、研究或調查的)對象(v。)使……隸屬;使屈從于，通常與to連用。它的形容詞形式為subjective，意為“主觀的，個人的”。
a subject of conversation 對話主題
sensitive/sensible
sensitive：敏感的、感覺的、易受影響的，tive一般表特性。
a sensitive topic 敏感話題
sensible：明智的、合乎情理的、通情達理的、意識到的、能感覺到的，able一般表能力。
a sensible young woman 明智的姑娘
sensible of his fault 意識到他的錯誤
special/specific
special：特別的，強調特別、與眾不同
a special friend 特殊朋友
specific：特定的，強調限制性
His specific problems got him into trouble。
他特有的問題使自己陷入麻煩。
stuff/staff
stuff：東西、材料、素材
Put that stuff over there。
把材料放在那兒。
staff：職員
the nursing staff of a hospital
醫院的護士們
technology/technique
technique：技巧、技能、技術、技藝。更具體，指某項技術。
a pianist with superb technique 技術精湛的鋼琴家
technology：科技(總稱)、工業技術、工藝學。更抽象，指成系統的一種科技大類。
information technology 信息技術
transfer/transmit
transfer：轉移，調任，轉讓，側重點是轉移(某物)
He transferred the package from one hand to the other。
他把包裹從一只手換到另一只手。
I transferred from Rutgers to Tulane。
我從羅格斯大學調任到杜蘭大學。
transmit：傳輸，傳導，發射，側重點是傳送(信號)
Glass transmits light。
玻璃能傳播光。
