什么是介詞短語？
介詞（preposition 簡寫prep.）后面一般有名詞、代詞或相當于名詞的其他詞類、短語或從句作它的賓語，表示與其他成分的關系。介詞在句中不能單獨作句子成分。
介詞后面的名詞或代詞等稱為介詞賓語（如果是人稱代詞，則要用賓格）。介詞和介詞賓語合在一起構成介詞短語。
例如：

in the air 在流行中，在傳播中
介詞短語在句子中充當的成分
介詞短語在句子中充當表語、狀語、定語和補語。
1. 介詞短語可以用作表語。
Mr. Smith is stillin bed. 史密斯先生還在睡覺。
He was alreadyin his sixties. 他已經六十多歲了。
Dinner wasat seveno’clock. 晚宴是七點鐘開始的。
We areout of food. 我們的食物吃完了。
2. 介詞短語可以用作狀語。
The children are playingby the river. 孩子們在河邊玩。
They often talkin Englishafter class. 他們經常在課后用英語交談。
Let’s go out for a walkalong the river. 咱們到河邊散散步。
3. 介詞短語可以用作定語。
The womanin the roomis his wife. 房間里的那個女人是他的妻子。
China is a countrywith a long history. 中國是一個歷史悠久的國家。
注意：介詞短語作定語時必須置于被修飾名詞之后。如：
the personon the bus公共汽車上的那個人
the girlin front of me我前面的女孩
a womanin black一個穿黑衣的婦女
a bookon sports一本關于運動的書
a boywith red hair紅頭發的男孩
a birdin the tree樹上的鳥
4. 介詞短語可以用作賓語補足語。
We found herin tears. 我們發現她在哭泣。
The cold kept himin bedfor three days. 這次感冒讓他臥床三天。
注意：當含有賓語補足語的句子變成被動語態后，原來的賓語補足語就變成了主語補足語。如：
She was foundin tears.（主語補足語）
