When we think of Thanksgiving today, images of football, pumpkin pie, parades, and turkey dinner complete with cranberry sauce come to mind, as well as plans for a Black Friday shopping spree the following day.
Of course none of these items were present back in 1621, when the Wampanoag people and the Pilgrims sat down together to give thanks for nature’s bounty. Although the celebrants at this particular meal didn’t even call it “Thanksgiving”, this particular harvest feast is the one after which we model our modern-day Thanksgiving celebrations.
People of both cultures had been giving thanks for the fall harvest and other gifts of nature for many centuries. It is interesting to note that the religious element, giving thanks to God, was not present at this particular celebration in 1621, even though the Pilgrims were devoutly religious. In fact, some early Pilgrim "thanksgiving days" were actually fasts rather than feasts. Imagine that!
However, the Native Americans had their own religious customs and beliefs. As a result, during this "first" Thanksgiving, Pilgrims and Native Americans did not focus on what was different between them, but instead concentrated on what they all shared. The two groups of people worked side by side to hunt and prepare food as equals and friends. Their friendship and cooperation was yet another thing for which to be thankful. Other feasts such as this one took place throughout the New World, where settlers and Native Americans worked together and celebrated together as one.
When we sit down to our Thanksgiving dinner, we honor a piece of early American history. The story of the Pilgrims and Native Americans serve as a good reminder for all of us to be thankful for what we have--no matter how much or how little.

In about sixty days, we will have the high school entrance examination. It’s very important to us. We’re busy with our lessons every day. To tell you the truth, I sometimes feel I can hardly breathe because of the busy school work.
Whenever I can’t work out the problems for a long time, I will get angry with myself. Whenever I don’t do well in the exams, I can’t help crying. But I will never give up. I know it’s my duty to work hard. I believe everything will be all right if I can live through all this. Our teacher often tells us that the sunlight always comes after the rain and wind. I think she is right.
Though our school life is busy, it is very colourful and I will face the exam with a smile. I will be a brave petrel to meet the exam and take my dream to fly higher and higher.

And as far as l am concerned, optimists and pessimists has three distinct characteristics:
permanence , pervasiveness and personalization . Firstly, optimists believe that luck is permanent , but the pessimistic person is just the opposite , they believe that bad luck is permanent, good luck is temporary. Similarly ,the pessimist says the worst thing is universal at the same time ,optimists think bad things always have a specific reason. Above all, optimistic people will care about the intrinsic effort redundant external luck. So under these factors, people who is optimistic will get more surprise from live than pessimists, and they can live a happier live than people who is pessimistic.
But how to overcome pessimism? I have some suggestions:
1. Read some positive information from the world, believe that as long as you stick to your dream and then you can win.
2. Sport everyday. You can take away your sad by doing some sports such as: running 、football or basketball and so on.
3. Live a regular life

The past always keeps me fresh. The student is very tall. He always looks serious, but he always smiles on his face when he helps others. We have always been a very good playing partner. Remember, that's my Christmas day in grade two. It's a bit slippery on the ground under the drizzle. When we took turns shooting, I sprained my feet after landing, but I couldn't even stand up. After he saw it, he put down the ball immediately, gently lifted me up, and slowly helped me into the teaching building. From his eyes, I could see a bit of worry. I knew he was worried about whether I could walk up to the four floor classroom.
There are fifty steps to go up to the four floor classroom, because our speed is very slow, so that we just walked to the two floor, and the bell rang. I asked him to go quickly, but he said, "after I leave, how do you get there? I'd like to stay. " Looking at his solemn expression, listening to his firm words and feeling his powerful arm, suddenly a warm current came to his heart, and the pain seemed to ease a lot. The old fashion way of forming an opinion, by examining the facts and shaping an opinion from them, is under fire from a news media that wants to tell us not only what is happening but how we should feel about the unfolding events. Now more than ever, the ability to think for one's self is an important skill and realize the importance of doing so.
The ability to think for one's self is becoming a lost art today. Too many people take the easy way out and simply allow the majority to do their thinking for them. But thinking for one's self has little to do with always going against the majority. Whether you side with the majority or not is less important than how you decided whom to side with. As long as you arrive at the conclusion by yourself and don't allow yourself to be influenced by others, you are making the right decision. Aristotle once said “It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it.”
