　　英文標點使用

　　1. 并列結構中的每一個名詞后都要加逗號，除了最后一個名詞

　　例：red , white , blue , and yellow

　　2. 插入語前后要用逗號隔開

　　例：The best way to see a country , unless you are pressed for time , is to travel on foot .

　　注：unless you are pressed for time 為插入語，前后用逗號隔開

　　3. 連接兩個獨立句的連詞前要加逗號

　　例：The situation is perilous , but there is still one chance of escape .

　　4. 不要用逗號連接兩個獨立句,要用分號

　　例：It is nearly half past five ; we cannot reach town before dark .

　　5. 不要用逗號將一句話分開

　　錯誤示范: She was an interesting talker . A woman who had traveled all over the world .

　　第一個句號應該改為逗號， A 應該改為小寫 a

　　6.冒號應該用在一個完整的句子之后，用于說明詳情、提供闡釋等

　　錯誤示范：Your dedicated whittler requires : a knife , a piece of wood and a back porch .

　　正確示范1: Your dedicated whittler requires three props : a knife , a piece of wood and a back porch .

　　正確示范2: Your dedicated whittler requires a knife , a piece of wood , and a back porch .

　　7.破折號常常打斷原句，引出插入成分、同位語等

　　例：His first thought on getting out of bed if he had any thought at all - was to get back in again .

　　(注:英文中的破折號一般成對使用)

　　8.陳述句后面不可用感嘆號加強語氣，只有真的表示感嘆語氣的句子才可以用感嘆號。

　　錯誤示范：It was a wonderful snow !

　　正確示范：What a wonderful snow !/ Halt !

　　9.雙引號的使用

　　引用的文獻用:"引用內容."

　　同位語或直接引語用,"內容."

　　例：I am reminded of my neighbor s advice ," Never worry about your heart till it stops beating ."

　　如若修飾成分在引語后面,則引語內容要用逗號結尾。

　　例：" I can t attend ," she said .
